TAL-NoiseMaker Preset Generator

Design a trance sound with a handful of knobs, hear a sketch of it here, then download it as a preset for TAL-NoiseMaker, the free virtual-analogue synth. Leads, plucks, pads, stabs and rolling basses.

What's in the preset

Loading the preset

In TAL-NoiseMaker, click the preset name at the top of the synth and choose Load preset, then pick the .noisemakerpreset file. To keep your presets in the browser, save them into TAL-NoiseMaker's user preset folder (the synth's menu shows where it is on your system).

The preview here is a sketch made with the site's own synth, so treat it as a guide: TAL-NoiseMaker's filter, chorus and reverb give the real preset its character.

How the sounds are built

Each preset starts from TAL-NoiseMaker's own init patch and changes only what the sound needs. Detune spreads the oscillators for the supersaw shimmer, and the octave layer adds oscillator 2 a saw an octave up. Plucks and stabs use the filter envelope to snap the cutoff shut after each note, pads open slowly with both choruses on, and the bass is mono with the sub oscillator an octave down. Add a dotted-1/8 delay in your DAW to finish a lead (the Delay Calculator has the time).

Questions

Is TAL-NoiseMaker free?

Yes. TAL-NoiseMaker is free from TAL Software, for Mac, Windows and Linux, as a VST, VST3, AU, AAX and CLAP plugin.

Can I share or sell the presets?

They're yours: use them in your music, tweak them, share them. Please don't sell them as a pack as they come.

Do you make presets for other synths?

Yes: the Vital, Surge XT and Dexed preset generators make sounds for those free synths too.
