Privacy policy

Trance Tools is run from the United Kingdom. This page explains what information the site handles and your rights under UK data protection law (UK GDPR).

The tools

Every tool runs entirely in your browser. The chords, settings and MIDI files you make are never sent to us. The tools don't use cookies.

Email signup

If you sign up for the free preset pack, we store your email address with our email provider so we can send you the download and a weekly email. We use it for nothing else and never sell or share it. You can unsubscribe from any email with one click, or ask us to delete your address.

Visitor statistics and cookies

With your permission, we use Google Analytics 4 to see how the site is used: which pages and tools people visit, roughly where they're from, what device they use, and actions like playing a tool or exporting MIDI. It helps us decide which tools to improve and build next. We don't use it for advertising, and Google's advertising features are switched off.

Google Analytics only loads if you click Accept on the cookie banner. If you click Reject, or ignore the banner, it never loads and no analytics cookies are set. You can change your mind at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page; withdrawing permission deletes the cookies.

If you accept, Google Analytics sets these cookies on trancetools.com:

• _ga: tells one visitor from another. Lasts 2 years.
• _ga_<container ID>: keeps track of your current visit. Lasts 2 years.

Google processes this data for us and may store it on servers outside the UK, including in the United States. Google Analytics 4 doesn't log or store IP addresses. Our legal basis is your consent. Your choice itself is saved in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie, and never leaves your device.

Fonts

The site's fonts load from Google Fonts, which means your browser sends your IP address to Google when a page loads. Google's own privacy policy covers that request.

Affiliate links

When you click an affiliate link, the shop you visit may set its own cookies to record that you came from us. Those cookies belong to the shop and are covered by its privacy policy.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete any personal information we hold about you by emailing hello@trancetools.com. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
