How to send a trance demo

Labels change how they take demos often, so check each one's current route before you send anything. Look on the label's website (often under Contact or Demos), in its social media bios, and on LabelRadar, a free demo platform many dance labels use. Never pay a label to listen to your music.

Pick labels that fit. Listen to what a label released in the last few months, not what it was known for ten years ago. A great uplifting track sent to a progressive label goes nowhere. Start with two or three labels whose sound is closest to yours.

Aim at the right size. Major labels get thousands of demos a week. Independent labels are smaller but often more open to new names, and a few releases there build the catalogue and DJ support that bigger labels look for.

Get the track ready. Check the master with the Mix Checker and the Release Loudness Guide, and make sure the arrangement is DJ-friendly: a mixable intro and outro of 16 or 32 bars (the Arrangement Planner helps).

Questions

Why doesn't each label show its demo email?

Demo routes change often: labels move between email, forms and LabelRadar, and close or open submissions. Linking to each label's own site and Beatport page means you always see the current details rather than an out-of-date address.

How long should I wait for a reply?

Many labels only reply if they want the track. Send one polite follow-up after two or three weeks, then move on to the next label.

Can I send the same demo to several labels?

Yes, but say so, and if one label offers to sign it, tell the others straight away. Never sign the same track to two labels.

Is my favourite label missing?

The list covers well-known trance labels across the main styles and keeps growing. Use the Beatport links to find similar labels: each label page shows the artists and labels its releases are linked to.
