What makes a good trance alias?
The names that last are short, easy to say on a radio show and easy to find in a search. One invented word works well (it's yours alone and easy to own online), and so does a pair of real words with a feeling that matches the music: open and celestial for uplifting, hard and mechanical for tech and hard trance, hypnotic for psy, cool and understated for progressive.
Before you commit, search the name on Spotify, Beatport, SoundCloud and Instagram, and check the handle is free. A name that's already in use, even in another genre, makes you hard to find and can cause trouble with distributors. The links on each name open those searches for you.
Questions
Are these names free to use?
They're generated at random and well-known trance names are filtered out, but we can't check every artist in the world. Search before you use one, and for anything serious, check trademarks in your country too.
What does adding my name do?
It steers the names: some ideas are built from the sounds in your word, and the same word always gives the same first batch, so you can come back to them.
